It has become a common industry practice to replace the batteries installed in watch movements after checking the month of battery manufacture, even when the remaining battery life is still adequate for the watch to work on the wrist. This unnecessary practice generates increased waste, an increased environmental burden, and increased costs in the watch-manufacturing process, as well as in the supply chain.
As a part of our commitment to contributing to both the environment and to society, we plan to change the way we supply our products and will start shipping movements and batteries separately. Through this initiative, we aim to significantly reduce the number of batteries that get thrown away, while enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of production, and overall convenience.
We are planning to implement the change starting with Cal.20 Series (Cal.2035 etc.) in 2025. Its scope will then gradually expand to include more calibers.
